Remember-The Lord is on our Side!

by Debbie on August 9, 2018

Have you ever been in a situation that made you feel as if no one was on your side?

I can tell you that I have been in that place where everything in me said, “No one cares, no one will help you this time, no one knows how I feel, ...”.

Maybe you know the “no one” story too. Perhaps you have spoken similar words before.

No matter how dark your feelings, your story, your need, your situation, I can testify this to you:

The LORD is on our side.

We own an appliance business that requires that we carry all kinds of insurance coverage. One of those coverages includes auto insurance. Without going into details (and there are some ugly devil in the details), our business ended up with double coverage auto insurance for two years.

This was certainly not our intent, as we are a small business and would never want or need two insurance companies covering our business autos.

When it came to our attention that we had spent money on double premiums, we looked into what had happened. We realized that between the two insurance companies that we had paid premiums to, that one of them should refund our premiums. (We are talking thousands of dollars here, ugh!)

We undertook the task of getting our money back. Well, our agent didn’t get a yes, we didn’t get a yes, and when we contacted the Dept of finance they didn’t give us much hope of recovering two years of double coverage premiums either, no matter what caused it. They were saying maybe one but not two for sure. Did I mention this was thousands of dollars, ugh!?

Wow, we were feeling a lot of hopelessness.

Oh, did I mention that the insurance company that we were seeking a refund from has a well known slogan?

Blah-blah-blah is on your side!

Well it didn’t appear that they were on our side.

After contacting many “people” the situation looked and sounded hopeless. No one seemed to think it was possible to get two years of premiums back, maybe one year but definitely not two. And the insurance company that declared they were on our side had already said they weren’t not once but twice!!

Yet, we are prayer warriors and we believe in the ONE GOD who is on our side!!

If God is for us, who can be against us?

As we began to stand on that belief, our hearts began to believe that even if blah-blah-blah, was not really on our side in this dreadful financial situation, that OUR GOD was, is, and always will be.

Several months later after being told all sorts of negative reports, we received an email from the Dept. Of finance stating that blah-blah-blah, wanted to review our situation further and would give us a final answer within 20 days.

I began to declare that blah-blah-blah, was on our side because God is on our side! I declared that over and over for those long 20 days of waiting to hear the verdict.

And I remembered that God gives us double for our trouble! Just ask Job!!

So the email finally came! The answer? Yes! A check for a full refund of two years of double coverage was in the mail to us!

After months of prayer, diligent work with agencies that can influence insurance companies that we couldn’t influence, and remembering and declaring that God is on our side- our refund check arrived.

Even the employees at the agencies that intervened for us stated that of all the years they had been involved with refunds they had never seen two years recovered!

I will never forget the negative reports we heard but most of all I will always remember this:

God is on our side!!

Psalm 124

If the LORD had not been on our side-
let Israel say-
If the LORD had not been on our side when men attacked us,
When their anger flared against us,
they would have swallowed us alive;
The flood would have engulfed us;
the torrent would have swept over us,
the raging waters would have swept us away.
Praise be to the Lord,
who has not let us be torn by their teeth.
We have escaped like a bird out of the fowler’s snare;
the snare has been broken,
Our help is in the name of the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

Are you feeling torn apart by something that you never dreamed would happen?

Are you broken and needing an escape?

Is the flood engulfing you?

Are you being attacked?

Are the raging waters sweeping over you?

Remember this and declare it aloud :

The Lord is on my side, my help is in the name of the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

Your situation is about to get better. Wait for it! The check is in the mail!

The Lord is on your side!!!

Let’s pray:

Heavenly Father -Maker of heaven and earth,

Thank you for being on our side with the double coverage insurance issue. When even those whose advertising stated they were on our side, failed us, you stepped in and worked a miracle. Thank you Lord for showing us that even when no one else is on our side, YOU ARE faithful to be there for us. You can and will work miracles for us. Help us to remember and declare that you Lord are on our side. You give us double for our trouble. Help those who are feeling deserted by you to begin to remember just like the psalmist did, that you ARE on our side. Nothing can separate us from your love. Nothing can keep you from helping us when we ask for your help and believe you are on our side. Thank you God that the check is always in the mail and it really will be double when we receive it. We receive it in Jesus name, Amen!

Stand Firm

by Debbie on November 25, 2016

By standing firm you will gain life. Luke 21:19

Firm is a word that I wish was more resident in my life!

For instance there are many areas of my body that I wish were more firm for sure!

Sometimes I wish I had been more firm with my son in some areas! Little late now, since he is now an adult making his own decisions!

Many times I have made a decision to stick to a certain plan for my life and found myself veering off that path! Certainly there are areas, that if I had been more firm with my decisions, I would have avoided a lot of disaster!

You get my point I am sure!

Being firm is just not something that I major in! What about you?

Firm simply means not soft; unyielding to change; strong and sure; constant steadfast; resistant to externally applied pressure; without wavering, resolutely; fixed and definite.

I know there is one thing that I want to remain firm more than anything else in my life!

That is my faith in God!

Firm faith in God is not soft, it is strong and sure!

Here are several ways that I have learned to keep my faith in God firm:

Praying daily and sometimes often
Reading my Bible daily
Believing what I read in the Bible
Applying what I read in the Bible to my life (as best as I can)
Staying connected with Godly people (family, friends, counselors)
Attending a church that teaches God's Word
Serving God and his people

These things are no guarantee that my faith will not fail but I can testify that these things certainly have strengthened my faith and I am still standing!

If your faith is a bit soft or perhaps faltering maybe it can be strengthened by resolving to put these practices in place in your life too!

Father God,
Thank you for giving your children a measure of faith! Help us to put into practice the things that will grow and strengthen our faith! We all desire to stand firm in our faith especially when the storm is raging or the fire is blazing! Thank you for reminding us that if we stand firm we will gain! Gain life! Not death! Thank you for victory! Our firm faith in Jesus gives us life! Help us stand firm in our faith no matter what comes our way! In Jesus name Amen!

I hear parents telling their kids to watch their mouths all the time! But I wonder if these parents ever think about watching their own mouths! It certainly isn't wise to talk too much no matter how old you are!
What do I mean?
Sometimes we go through things that are much more of a challenge to [...]

Bigger is Better

June 3, 2009

Recently I decided that my family needed a bigger table. Currently we enjoy our dinner together at a small card table set up in between our den and home computer desk. As you can imagine it is small and at times can be cramped, especially if my son invites his girlfriend or another friend to [...]
