No Doubt

by Debbie on December 8, 2015

....And no one dared ask him if he really was the Lord because they were sure of it.
John 21:12

The disciples lost something....their doubt about who Jesus was....they were sure now that he was the Lord.

What would it take Jesus doing in your life to remove all doubt and make you sure of who he is?

For the disciples it was a fishing tale not a fairy tale!! Jesus taught them the "right" way to fish and Jesus cooked them breakfast by the Sea of Galilee! Bread and fish!

Read John 21 and try to put yourself in the disciples place. If Jesus came into your life and took it from fish less to fish full, would you stop doubting if he really is the Lord and become sure of it?

Jesus,
So many still have doubts about letting you be the Lord of their lives! They want you to be their Savior but not so much their Lord (Master). Lives are fish less, finances are fish less, wombs are fish less, futures are fish less, marriages are fish less, jobs are fish less....!!! Lord you not only taught the disciples how to fish (something they thought they were pros at, no doubt) but you fed them fish too! Lord help those who are fishing on the wrong side to start fishing on the right side! Your side! Help them to surrender to you and start seeing largeness (153 large fish) in their lives! Serve them Lord and give them a miracle that will take away all their doubt about who you are! Help them to fall in love with you and want to feed your sheep! In Jesus name amen.

Keeper

by Debbie on November 2, 2009

My husband loves to fish.  When he talks about his fishing adventures, I listen attentively as he shares his fishing stories with me.  I have even been brave enough to go fishing with him a few times, until I found out just how serious a fisherman he really is.  One of the things that stands out in my mind about my husband is his ability to know so much about the fish.  He knows the names of all the fish, how many you can keep of each kind  and how much they can weigh.  One of his most memorable lines about fishing is, "this one is a keeper"!

This memorable line came to my mind one day as I was reading scripture in Psalm 121.  This is one of my favorite Psalms and after relating this scripture to my husbands memorable saying, it is even more precious to me now.

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.  My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.  He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.  Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.  The LORD is thy keeper:  the LORD is they shade upon thy right hand.  The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.  The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil:  he shall preserve they soul.  The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore. Psalms 121:1-8

I was so excited to find this scripture on a plaque at a garage sale when I was going through a very difficult time in my life.  I took it home and placed it on my bedroom wall as a reminder to me that the LORD is my keeper.  As I meditated on that scripture I realized that in order for him to be my keeper then HE must consider me as "a keeper".   It was so comforting to me to know that God was going to keep me no matter what!  He did not care about my size or what family I came from or about my past.  He just cared about me.  He is not going to throw me back like a fish that does not meet certain requirements.

I am so glad that God shared this insight with me.  I need to be reminded that the LORD is my keeper especially when this world makes me feel like I am not a keeper.  I hope you can be encouraged through this Word too.  God is keeping you and me.  He is not throwing us back.  He is watching over us and he never even sleeps or slumbers.  Our help comes from him.  We need to lift up our eyes to him on a daily basis and thank him for being our keeper.  His eyes are upon our going out and our coming in!  I hope you have allowed God to catch you and that you are resting in the fact that HE will keep you and not throw you back.  When he looks at us he most assuredly says, "this one is a keeper".

God keeps us in so many ways.  He keeps us from death and he keeps us safe from all evil and harm.  He keeps us from many harmful things that we are not even aware of.  So be encouraged and know that God is keeping you no matter where you are.  He is keeping you when you are in deep waters,  he is keeping you when you are about to drown, he is keeping you when your stream feels dry, he is keeping you night and day....no matter what,  the LORD is thy keeper!  So on those days when the world or the people in your world want to throw you back, just smile and remember that you are a keeper and most importantly remember that the LORD is your keeper!

Father,

Thank you so much for your Word that teaches me about you and helps me to feel secure.  I am so thankful that you are my keeper and that you consider me a "keeper".  Thank you for not throwing me back because I don't meet all your requirements.  Thank you for your patience with me.  Help me to lift up mine eyes to you and know that you will help me in my time of need and that you will watch over me day and night and keep me safe.  Thank you for preserving my coming in and my going out from this time forth and even for evermore.  I am so glad that you caught me and that you are keeping me each day.  Keep me in your Word and in prayer each day.  Keep me walking close to you and trusting you more and more, especially when I feel like a "throw back".  Keep me LORD, let me be your "catch of the day".  In Jesus name, Amen
